科学发展观的英译

　　今天偶然看到，网友“三言两语”把China Daily的一篇文章《Scientific Outlook on Development》[1]翻译成了中文，发表在译言上[2]。原文很有意思，虽然是英语，却也通俗易懂，没有那种绕弯子的官话。

　　这引起了我的兴趣，于是便去查外国网站上关于科学发展观的文章，看看是否有易于理解的独到观点。不过，查了几个网页才发现，科学发展观的英译并不统一。2005年，人民网翻译成“Scientific Concept of Development”[3]，不过到了2007年，新华网关于十七大的新闻[4]采用的是“Scientific Outlook on Development”，应该是官方的译版。此外，BBC[5]、VOA[6]的报道里采用的都是这个版本。这样一来，维基百科翻译成“Scientific Development Concept”[7]就不算准确了，究其原因，也许是词条创建时间较早的缘故。

　　本来事情到此就应该告一段落了，但我又发现，在中国知网CNKI的翻译助手上搜索的结果[8]更有趣。网站提供这个功能的本意是把所有论文的中英文关键词及摘要作比对，并显示相应的词汇句子段落，帮助学者翻译好专业术语。不过，却无意中暴露出很多学者英文水平低下的事实。

　　摘录部分科学发展观的翻译如下：
scientific development view(1046)、scientific development concept(559)、scientific concept of development(464)、view of scientific development(403)、the view of scientific development(326)、scientific view of development(300)、concept of scientific development(300)、scientific development outlook(195)、scientific outlook on development(157) ...

　　正确的翻译scientific outlook on development只有157例，排在14名左右。而第二和第三位的版本由于历史原因，还算情有可原。但排在第一位的是最弱智的直译scientific development view，竟有1046例，这是很说明问题的。查看其来源，大多是党史理论研究的文章。如此想当然的翻译不仅说明学术态度不严谨，而且也相当于犯了严重的政治错误 ... 真是讽刺到极致。
